What is Cellulite?

Cellulite is the herniation of subcutaneous fat within fibrous connective tissue that manifests topographically as skin dimpling and nodularity. Cellulite is a condition in which the skin appears to have areas with underlying fat deposits, giving it a dimpled, lumpy appearance a.k.a. orange peel.

Cellulite effects most women at some point in their life. It is the accumulation of fat deposits under the skin that create the ‘orange peel’ look that so many women want to get rid of. Everyone can get cellulite and it doesn’t matter if you are fit, thin, a celebrity or young it will effect nearly all women and some men during their life time. There are some practical things that you can do yourself to stop the cellulite but sometimes you need something extra to help make the skin look even better.

Fear not though, there are ways of managing the appearance of cellulite.

  1. SilDerm does work!

Over the counter creams like SilDerm will reduce the appearance of cellulite by breaking down the fat and strengthening the skin.

  1. Exercise

Burning fat through exercise will reduce the appearance of cellulite although it’s worth noting that you won’t eradicate cellulite because the tissue will still be damaged and stretched.

  1. Sun Protection

Yet another reason to keep topping up on the SPF50 is that UV rays damage collagen making cellulite more visible. We would recommend using something like SunSense Ultra which is Australia’s number 1 sunscreen.
